CRT Annual Achievement Awards

The Coalition for Recreational Trails (CRT) presents "Annual Achievement Awards" each year in recognition of trails making outstanding use of Recreational Trails Program (RTP) funds. The Coalition for Recreational Trails is a federation of national and regional organizations that support funding through the RTP, which is administered by the Federal Highway Administration through all 50 states.

American Trails Website Contest

American Trails launched the first-ever contest to seek out the best websites in the cyberworld of trails and greenways. To enter, see this year's American Trails Website Contest. We looked for sites that really make trails come alive, and provide effective information delivery, support volunteers, and engage the public. In short, we want to showcase ways that advocates and agencies are making a difference for trails. Visit dozens of great trails websites and award winners: 2007 | 2005 | 2004 | 2003 | 2002

National Recreation Trails Program

National Recreation Trails is a Federal recognition program for trails that connect people to local resources and improve their quality of life. National Recreation Trail (NRT) nominations come from federal, state, or community trail managers who wish to highlight projects of local and regional significance. NRTs are designated by the Secretary of the Interior, and those in national forests by the Secretary of Agriculture. The National Park Service's Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program (RTCA) and USDA Forest Service jointly administer the NRT program, with support from a number of other federal and nonprofit partners, notably American Trails. Over 1,000 trails have been designated on federal, state, local, and privately owned land throughout the country.

Photo Contest for National Recreation Trails Program

American Trails sponsors an annual contest for photographs of National Recreation Trails across the country. Awards are made in several categories and entries (and previous winners) on the NRT website. The goal is to highlight the diversity of the NRTs and to make more Americans familiar with these great trails. See entries and winners from: 2007 | 2006 | 2004 | 2003 |
