The Arkansas Audubon Center's goal is to foster a new generation of trail advocates and conservationists by introducing youth to an urban wilderness. It is located in the heart of Little Rock and is home to several diverse habitat types including rare nepheline syenite glades.

Participate in hands-on activities to learn how Audubon Arkansas encourages urban students to become environmental stewards. Learn how Audubon has formed partnerships to develop trails and restoration projects on this area. Explore this site and learn about the Audubon Arkansas’ “learn and lead” conservation efforts.

Leader: Mary Miller Smith, Director of Education, Audubon Arkansas

Workshop Leader Bio:
This workshop will be led by Mary Miller Smith, Director of Education at Audubon Arkansas where she works with students across Arkansas to connect schools and local communities with nature. One of her primary projects is The Common Ground Education Initiative, a partnership between Audubon Arkansas and the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, which focuses on project-based learning, field science, leadership, technology, and service learning.
