Camacho Activity Center's mountain biking team

Check out the hot spot for adventurous youth in Austin. The Camacho Activity Center has coined the term "high techreation" to describe their techniques of combining outdoor recreation and technology. This effort appeals to young people and has helped to bring in a new generation of trail enthusiasts.

The Center teaches mountain biking (they have their own competitive team), rock climbing, canoeing, fishing, astronomy, and many other activities. Combined with these activities are computer use, GPS, and movie making. The Camacho Center is now a model sought by many around the country.

Camacho's staff and young participants will instruct in the basics of Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, then lead an Eco-challenge around Town Lake and the trail that backs up to the Center. This GPS-based challenge will involve hiking and canoeing. Step up and take the challengežthese young people will impress you.
