Celina Montorfano moves on from AHS position

From Celina Montorfano, American Hiking Society

Dear Friends & Colleagues,

After eight and a half truly gratifying years with American Hiking Society, I have decided to pursue new directions and will be leaving the organization in late May. This was an extremely difficult decision to make, and it comes with both sadness and excitement.

Working for American Hiking Society has been exceptionally rewarding and enriching in so many ways. The organization is at a very exciting and unique stage in its evolution, and I'm very proud to have been part of its growth and development. I am immensely grateful for the incredible experiences and opportunities my time here has provided-- and I have treasured the opportunity to work with such outstanding, talented, and dedicated partners and colleagues in the trails, recreation, and conservation communities. I have learned a tremendous amount from so many of you and made many lasting friendships over the years.

I am moving on to follow long-held aspirations, both personally and professionally. I will have a period of transition before determining my next steps long-term, but in the immediate future I will be gaining new skills and experience in wilderness management and stewardship working this summer/fall in the Sawtooth Wilderness, with possible stints in other wilderness areas in ID, WY, and UT. I hope to relocate permanently in the west sometime after that.

After May 16, please use the following email address to contact me: cmontorfano@yahoo.com. I will share a new phone number prior to my departure. (Yes, I will have to break down and get a cell-phone soon).

Greg Miller, American Hiking Society's President, will be working on recruitment to ensure that our policy and advocacy work remains at the national forefront. Be watching for communications from Greg in short notice and do not hesitate to contact him with ideas or suggestions. He can be reached at 301 565-6704 x210 or GMiller@AmericanHiking.org.

It has been a pleasure working with all of you, and I sincerely hope our paths will cross in the future.

Thank you and warm regards,

Celina
