BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands seeks an accomplished recreational expert for a key planning position. The position provides an opportunity for team-oriented state-wide leadership on non-motorized recreational planning and management. The position delivers resources and guidance to state parks and public lands managers; community groups, including land trusts; and non-profit project partners including recreation clubs, and advocacy organizations. The position is supported by an ambitious and innovative management team working aggressively to expand conservation and active recreation opportunities for all Maine people, and to develop tourism infrastructure supporting Maine's economy. Successful candidates will have demonstrated expertise in recreation planning and recreation management, and will be able to deliver results through teamwork and partnerships. The position has limited administrative or technical support, and depends upon independent supervision. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four (4) years experience in parks or resource land planning, landscape architecture, or related field including experience in park and recreation facility construction, operation, and maintenance and a Bachelors Degree in Park Management, Landscape Architecture, Forestry, or related field. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
