SCA seeks Trail Project Leader for Olympics in WA

Application Deadline: April 1, 2008

Working in partnership with the USDA Forest Service or National Park Service, each SCA team will complete an array of projects aimed at protecting and enhancing the trail corridor. The Project Leader is responsible for coordinating with the agency coordinators and the Program Director on the design, implementation and evaluation of these work projects as well as safely supervising the team in all aspects of their work.

Responsibilities: planning and implementing trail projects, supervising members, training, coordinating logistics and field operations, (transportation, housing, meals, equipment and supplies), risk assessment and management, budget management, agency relations, reporting, and evaluation. This is a full-time, seasonal position.

* Olympic National Park

Period of Employment: April 1, 2008 - August/September 2008

Qualifications: 21 years of age or older; 1-3 years prior experience supervising young adults in an outdoor, wilderness setting; previous trail construction experience; excellent communication and leadership skills; strong work ethic; self starter; ability to carry heavy loads up to 50 pounds; ability to work in an outdoor environment exposed to the elements for extended periods of time. Current WFR/CPR certification, Driver's license, and MVR that meets SCA's guidelines. Must pass SCA criminal background check. Previous chainsaw experience preferred but not required.

Compensation: Salary range $1000-$1090 bi-weekly with seasonal benefits.
