Hosted by AmericanTrails.org Safe Routes offers State Network Organizers grants Application deadline: Thursday, April 12, 2007 (5 PM PDT) REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS: State Network Organizers The Safe Routes to School National Partnership is pleased to announce a Request for Applications for organizations in nine key states (California, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, Oklahoma, Texas, Virginia) and the District of Columbia to implement the State Network Project. The State Network Organizers RFA and Application are available here: http://bikesbelong.org/page.cfm?PageID=400. Successful applicants in each state will receive $12,000 per year to hire a part-time local State Network Organizer to build and manage the state network. The State Network Organizer will link existing leaders associated with health, bicycle, pedestrian, youth, education, disadvantaged communities, and smart growth organizations. The state network will help the federal SRTS program to succeed, work to leverage additional resources for Safe Routes to School and to remove barriers to walking and bicycling to schools. A low-income community or school in each of these ten states will also be assisted in their efforts to apply for and implement SRTS funds.
