Colorado State Forest State Park - Trail Coordinator position

POSITION: Trail Coordinator
START & END DATE: May 2017 – October 2017
PAY RATE: $10.50/Hour
LOCATION: State Forest State Park



This position will coordinate work for park trail crew. Planning, evaluating, training, teambuilding, completing work and ensuring safety of the trail crew are the primary focus of the Trail Coordinator. This position is designed to maintain and improve existing trail systems on the State Forest State Park. This position is tasked with motorized trail as well as non-motorized trail maintenance. There hundreds of miles of heavily used trails throughout this property. Trail Coordinator may work alone or in a group and will be provided assistance in duties if necessary. This position often works in the backcountry. This is a customer service based agency so this position will work with the public. This position may be called on to assist other positions such as maintenance, rangers or visitor services at times. Hand tools, chain saws, Off-Highway Vehicles (OHV’s), skid steer/tractor, etc. will be used to complete tasks. This is a manual labor position that requires Trail Coordinator to be outdoors and exposed to the elements on a daily basis. Trails range in elevation from 8,500 feet to 13,000 feet above sea level.

The park will provide some uniform items, but employees will be required to purchase other items at their own expense.

Employee On-Site Housing available for a nominal fee.

Note: This position is up to 40 hours per week and up to six months in duration. School schedules MAY be accommodated.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
Must have or be able to attain First Aid and CPR certifications
Must be able to perform physical work in adverse conditions
Must be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays
Previous trail supervision experience preferred
