North Slope Trailer Project Project
sponsors: Wyoming State Trails
Program, Utah State Parks and Recreation;
USDA-Forest Service, Bureau of Land
Management, Tread Lightly!, Inc.,
and the National Off-Highway
Vehicle Conservation Council
The $32,000 RTP grant provides a first of its kind outdoor ethics and safety education "on-site" where the activities happen, as the trailer is used as a contact point, display, and mini classroom. The trailer is also used at schools, dealer events, workshops, land manager sessions, outdoor expositions, parades, trailheads, and shows, to reach hard-to-contact users and all other concerned public. The self-contained unit allows interior and exterior audio-visual presentations on summer and winter activities. The trailer is well maintained and identified with agency logos, making it a major eyecatcher. Its usefulness in educating the public resulted in additional units planned for Wyoming and Utah, as well as, Colorado State Parks and Idaho State Parks.
The North Slope Trails Education Travel Trailer is a partnership primarily involving the Wyoming State Trails Program and the Utah State Parks and Recreation. USDA-Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Tread Lightly!, Inc., and the National Off-Highway Vehicle Conservation Council support the project by providing free educational materials and personnel.
