The new 85-foot fiberglass bridge over yellow creek

RTP funds were used to construct an 85 foot fiberglass hiking bridge connecting the 300 mile Mid State Trail in Loysburg, Pennsylvania.  The new bridge provides a safe span over Yellow Creek and replaces a 100 year-old wire and wood “swinging bridge,” that had become unsafe after suffering from years of flooding and nature’s other elements.

This beautiful bridge enhances trail usage and enjoyment by all users to encourage more outdoor recreation.  Not only local Mid State Trail hikers will use this bridge but, nationwide. Great Eastern Trail users will be able to enjoy this crossing.  The bridge already attracts hikers, bikers, fishermen, hunters and mushroom hunters as well as church groups, backpackers, birders, picnickers, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
