The premier opportunity for the worldwide trails community

Every two years American Trails sponsors the International Trails Symposium to bring together trail and greenway advocates, managers, planners, and users, as well as tourism and business interests.

The symposium is the largest gathering of all trail interests— professionals, managers, and users who believe their combined voices are the best way to strengthen trails for everyone.

Experience an inspirational and educational conference

The Symposium includes dozens of educational sessions covering the broad range of trail issues, internationally prominent speakers, a state-of-the-art exhibit hall, informative and interactive mobile workshops and plenty of networking opportunities.

Celebrate the best in the industry and foster a new generation of trail workers

The National and International Trails Awards at the Symposium to recognize the tremendous contributions of volunteers, professionals, and other leaders who are working for the betterment of trails.

American Trails also hosts the Hulet Hornbeck Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program, which will bring up to 16 Emerging Leaders (young adults, age 21-25) to participate in the Symposium. The program will immerse the scholarship recipients in learning best practices and trends in the field to help pave the path to careers in natural resource management.
