Canoe the Willamette River (In One Large Canoe!)

Date: Tuesday, May 19
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Cost: $35 (includes canoe and life jacket)
Skill Level: Easy (Accessible for persons with disabilities)
Length: Approximately 3-6 miles depending on enthusiasm of participants and weather conditions

Launch into the river from Willamette Park along the Willamette River Greenway. The tour will be in one large, 29-foot, 16-person canoe. Paddle as a team and experience a personalized tour of the Willamette River Water Trail. View the bank of the park and new South Waterfront Trail.

Learn about the past pollution of the river and the ongoing restoration of the riverbank with new vegetation and trails. Canoe into the lagoon in the middle of Ross Island and learn how the former mined area will become a city park/natural area in the future. Discuss how mining and dredging operations have ceased and the restoration of the river, its’ island, and riverbank continues.
