Learn the 40-Mile Loop’s origins and history and how it has been funded, developed, and maintained over the past 25 years. Ride key sections of the world famous 40-Mile Loop, which is now more than 140-miles long. First envisioned by the Olmsted Brothers in the “1903 Parks Plan for Portland,” you will ride on the Eastbank Esplanade and Floating Trail on the river, journey onto the Springwater on the Willamette River and Sellwood Gap Trail sections, which form a Rail-Trail. Continue east on the Springwater Corridor over the famous “Three Bridges.” Return to the bike shop and then ride back to the Oregon Convention Center on the TriMax back. View Portland’s numerous bridges, including the not yet opened Tillicum Crossing, which when completed will only allow for cyclists, pedestrians, and transit. View Portland’s skyline and green urban development and habitat restoration along the Willamette River.
