Kayak the Lewis River-Vancouver Lake Water Trail

Date: Sunday, May 17
Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Cost: $99 (includes lunch)
Skill Level: Intermediate
Length: Approximately 5 miles paddling

Kayak a five-mile reach of the Lewis River-Vancouver Lake Water Trail in Clark County, Washington along Lake River. Lake River is a flat water tributary with gentle tidal influence. We will paddle along the shoreline of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. We will meet with Refuge staff to consider how the water trail should interface with existing Refuge trails and a proposed new bridge project. Explore a small portion of the Refuge on foot for an added opportunity to see wildlife. Learn how the water trail system is being developed for Clark County since the initial technical assistance from the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program. Bring your binoculars if you’re a birding enthusiast. All weather gear is highly recommended. (It rains in the Pacific Northwest!) Reasonable level of fitness is recommended. Experience level appropriate for all skill levels in single and double kayaks.

Tour Leaders: Gail Alexander, Ridgefield Kayak and Jean Akers, Conservation Technix, Inc.
