Sandy Ridge Mountain Bike Trail

Date: Sunday, May 17
Time: 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Cost: $55.00 (includes bike/helmet rental)
Skill Level: All skill levels welcome
Length: 3 to 12 miles depending on rider’s skill level (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced)

Come ride the trails at Sandy Ridge and learn about the collaborative efforts between agencies, trail advocacy groups, and the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA), that led to the creation of this world class resource. Staff from the Bureau of Land Management and the International Mountain Bike Association’s Trail Solutions team will be hosting this mobile workshop at the Sandy Ridge Trail System, located 40 miles east of Portland and home to over 120,000 riders annually. Sandy Ridge provides mountain bikers of all skills and abilities the opportunity to ride a varied network of trails that are both environmentally and socially sustainable.

The workshop will cover topics including:
· Guidelines for a quality trail experience
· Developing desired trail experiences within environmental, social and regulatory constraints
· Design and construction guidelines for bike-optimized trails

Weather in western Oregon in April can vary. Please come prepared with riding clothes and rain gear. You should be comfortable on a bike, but needn't be a highly skilled rider to participate. There will be several groups and the ride for the day will vary depending on skill and ability.

Tour Leaders: Zachary Jarrett, Bureau of Land Management and Rod Woitanik, Metro
