Exploring the Epicenter of the Nation’s Long Distance Trails

Southwest Ohio is at the junction of over 22,000 miles of long distance hiking, biking, and paddling trails with most culminating at a single point in the “Buckeye and North Country Trail Town” of Milford, Ohio. Come experience bits and pieces of all of these trails complete with guided experiences and discussion about the status and importance of each to the outdoor culture in southwest Ohio and the nation. The trails and routes that will be explored include:

1. North Country National Scenic Trail
2. Buckeye Trail
3. American Discovery Trail
4. Sea to Sea Long Distance Hiking Route
5. Underground Railroad Bicycle Route
6. Ohio to Erie Trail
7. US Bicycle Route 50
8. US Bicycle Route 25
9. Little Miami Scenic Trail
10. Little Miami State and National Scenic River

Participants will gain a better understanding of how long distance trails are planned, built, maintained, and used as they cross many jurisdictions. Participants will also better understand the tourism and marketing potential of long distance trails including a visit to at least two designated Trail Towns.
