Modern Mountain Bike Facility Development

** Not Available **
Date & Time: May 11, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
Cost: $200
Location: MoMBA Trails @ Huffman MetroPark and Welcome Park Bike Park

Recent innovations in mountain biking facilities have left many land managers confused. What is a bike park, a flow trail, a pump track? Who do these facilities serve, what do they cost to develop, and how are risk and maintenance managed? Three of North America's leading MTB facility developers, Scott Linnenburger of Kay-Linn Enterprises, Chad Irey of Dirt Artisans, and Jason Schiefelbein of PumpTrax USA will provide a field-based exploration of these facilities in the Dayton area. Learn best practices that make successful, durable mountain bike facilities including designs based on users needs, facility location, soil requirements, various types of surface, drainage requirements, permits and type of execution. The beginner flow trail, skills development zones, and tot track at the MoMBA trail system and the beginner pump track at the developing Welcome Bike Park have been developed for new mountain bikers and kids looking to build their balance and bike handling skills. Bikes will be available for workshop participants to ride at these facilities. Participants should bring comfortable clothes and footwear appropriate for cycling.
