Trail Structures for Wet Environments

** Not Available **
Date & Time: May 11-12, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Cost: $385 (Includes lunch)
Location: Taylorsville MetroPark

Join members of Peter S. Jensen and Associates, LLC, and other PTBA member companies (TBD) for two days of exploring methods of building sustainable trail in wet and sensitive environments. Depending on the environment there are many alternatives available for building boardwalk and trail that maintains the integrity of the ecosystem you are building in.

This two-day workshop will immerse participants in the methods and best practices of building boardwalk using Diamond Piers. Diamond Piers provide an effective footing for many types of boardwalk. We will demonstrate and practice the installation techniques for this tool, and build a short section of boardwalk, start to finish, throughout the course of the workshop.

We will provide first aid kits and all of the tools and equipment necessary for the workshop. Participants should plan on bringing hard hats, safety glasses, work gloves, and sturdy work boots.

This fee includes: nationally recognized instructors, high instructor to participant ratio, lunch on each day of the workshop, various pier samples from PTBA trusted vendors and their related installation equipment, stone and stonework related equipment, and limited PPE.

By the end of the workshop participants will make professional connections with PTBA member companies; fellow trail builders, supports, and volunteers alike.

What to Bring:
Appropriate field gear for the weather. Expect to be outside during this workshop. We will be operating in the Midwest in May. Expect rain and be pleasantly surprised if it stays dry. We will provide dust masks, first aid kits and all of the tools and equipment necessary for the workshop. Participants should plan on bringing hard hats, safety glasses, work gloves, and sturdy work boots.

Instructor(s): Peter Jensen, Peter S. Jensen and Associates, LLC
