National Recreation Trails 2004 Photo Contest/ghost-422.jpg

The Ghost Town National Recreation Trail in Pennsylvania at the north end of the Rexis spur. The Rexis spur runs north to US 422, which is on an embankment well above trail level and in any case is a high-speed road with no nearby safe crossing. When the bridge over this branch of Blacklick Creek was reconstructed, the work included provisions for the trail to share the creek bed with the creek. The trail currently ends here, but plans call for extension north and east, eventually swinging back to create a loop (photo by Mary Shaw; all rights reserved).
