Mobile Workshop Details

Volunteers help maintain mountain biking trails in the Quad Cities area

Date: Thursday, October 19
Time: 12:30 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Cost: $15.00 + $25.00 for bike rental (if needed) (does not include lunch)

Get out in the woods to revive your spirit with mountain bike riding tours, provided by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) and the local Friends of Off Road Cycling (FORC)! IMBA and FORC will offer techniques for working with land managers, sharing trails with other user groups, utilizing volunteer trail care crews, and trail planning and design. Group size will be limited to 25 riders, which will divide into smaller groups by comfort level and ability. Mountain bike rentals are very limited. It is best if you are able to bring your own mountain bike.

Loud Thunder Forest Preserve is about a 30-minute bus trip from the convention center, with terrain in the river basin consisting of hills and ravines. This destination will include winding in, out, and around this terrain over packed-dirt forested trails. Loud Thunder has 7.5 miles of shared single track. Restrooms and showers are available. Opportunities for intermediate to semi-skilled riders are available. Some experience is necessary with fair to good bike-handling skills, and good general health and conditioning. A liability waiver and a helmet are required. Weather may require moving to another location, modifying, or canceling a ride.

Please indicate on your registration form whether you need a bike rental and your riding ability.
